ReferenceBusiness Profile suspension
Google Account not in good standing
Google will not let a Business Profile be fixed while the Google Account that manages it is not in good standing. The account may be disabled, suspended or deleted. Fix the account first, because the profile cannot be reinstated or edited until the account is restored. Then return to the profile and deal with its own status, which may be a separate suspension or disablement.
At a glance
- Where it shows
- When the affected account tries to manage the profile. Google's page does not name the screen.
- What stops
- Edits and content on the profile, until the account is fixed.
- How serious
- Set by the account's own status. The page links to separate help for disabled, suspended and deleted accounts.
What it means
Google's page says a merchant must take steps to fix the issue before it can access its Business Profile. The account is the sign-in that owns or manages the profile, so a problem with the account blocks edits to the profile, whatever the profile itself has done.
The status belongs to the account, not the listing. A profile can be sound and still unreachable, so do not start by editing the listing.
What actually triggers it
An account disabled or suspended for a reason outside the profile
The Google Account is restricted, and Google's page does not name the reasons. It points to separate help pages for each account status.
An account that was deleted
An account that no longer exists cannot be used to manage the profile. The page links to help for deleted accounts.
Fix it in this order
- Work out which status the account has, disabled, suspended or deleted, from Google's message or the sign-in page.
- Follow Google's help for that status to restore the account, using the pages the Business Profile help links to.
- Once the account is in good standing, check the profile's own status, since a disabled profile has to be reinstated before content can be added.
After the account is restored, check the profile's status again before editing it.
Often confused with
A decision on the profile itself. A profile can be suspended while its account is fine. An account problem stops every profile the account manages, so check the account before the profile.
