Undo changes Google made to your Business Profile

In Edit profile, fields shown in blue are Google's changes. Set each wrong one back and save. Fix the same detail on your website and answer suggested edits within 4 days, since Google may publish a user's suggestion your website or other public info supports. Turn off updates from Google's automated calls and texts if unwanted.
Before you start
- The Google Account that manages the profile, on a verified profile. Google says you must verify before you can opt out of its automated calls and texts.
- Access to edit your website, or someone who can change it within a few days.
- The correct details in hand: hours, phone, website address, category and address as they should read.
Find what Google changed
Google marks its own changes in blue under Edit profile, so that is where to look first.
- Sign in, go to your Business Profile and select Edit profile. When Google has updated the profile, a notification shows at the top.
- Read the text colors. Google says blue shows info changed by Google, and black or white means no update from Google.
- Select Collected info in Edit profile to see what Google gathered from automated calls, texts or WhatsApp messages, with its source and date. Google offers this in some regions and categories only.
Put your details back
Edit each wrong field directly, the route Google documents for keeping a profile accurate.
- Open each blue field, enter the correct value and select Save. Your edit then goes through Google's normal review, which usually takes 10 minutes and sometimes up to 30 days.
- In Collected info, delete anything wrong with Delete, then Delete again. Google says this removes it from its records but does not change other details already on the profile. Check the matching field too, and edit it if it is still wrong.
Google says you can't manage every Google update through the profile, and that it may apply a suggested edit without asking when the edit is needed to meet its guidelines. A value that breaks the guidelines may be changed again without notice.
Stop the same change coming back
Google updates profiles from user reports, licensed data and crawled websites. Fixing only the profile may leave those sources saying something else.
- Correct the same detail on your website. Google says that when you don't answer a suggested edit, it may publish it if other public information, such as your business website, supports it.
- Answer every suggested-edit email or notification from Google. Google gives you 4 days to accept or reject it.
- To stop automated calls and texts updating the profile, select More Business Profile settings, then Advanced settings. Under "Google automated calls and text messages", turn off Keep your profile up to date, and Post to your profile on your behalf if you want that off too.
Turning these off does not stop every call. Google says you may still occasionally get manual calls to confirm your business information, and never asks for payment to keep a business on Google.
Check it worked
Reopen Edit profile after Google's review time, up to 30 days. Each field you corrected should no longer show in blue, and its status should be Accepted. If it shows Not approved, Google could not confirm it, and you may be able to appeal. Pending means it is still under review.
Over the following weeks, watch for new suggested-edit notices and answer each within the 4 days.
Updating many locations from a spreadsheet
Google says to import the spreadsheet before you manage Google updates. A field left the same as your last upload is ignored: Google neither accepts nor discards its update for that field. A changed field replaces both your previous value and Google's update. A blank field may let an automatic update apply.
