Fix Business Profile edits that aren't showing

Updated October 11, 2026

15 minutes, then Google's review time

Open Edit profile and read the edit's status. Pending can take up to 30 days; Not approved may be appealed or raised through Google's contact form. Update your website first, because Google uses it as a source. A move to a new address must be verified again, and a name change might need it too.

Before you start

  • The Google Account that manages the profile. Google says you must sign in to the account linked to the profile to edit it.
  • Access to your website. Google builds profiles partly from crawled web content, including the business's official website.
  • The date you saved the edit, to measure against Google's review times.

Find the edit's status

Edit profile shows whether Google accepted, is still reviewing, or did not approve the change.

  1. Sign in and search Google for my business, or in the Google Maps app tap Business.
  2. Select Edit profile and open the field you changed. Google shows each edit as Accepted, Pending or Not approved.
  3. Look for an alert at the top of Edit profile and for fields shown in blue. Blue means Google changed that field, which is a different fix.
  4. If the profile shows Get verified, Google could not completely verify it. Google may reject content added to an unverified profile, and some businesses might need to verify before they can change anything.

Do what the status calls for

Each status, and each kind of change, has its own next step.

  1. Pending: wait. Google says review usually takes 10 minutes and sometimes up to 30 days.
  2. Not approved: Google may not approve a change it can't confirm is accurate, and some edits break its rules. You may be able to appeal. In the UK or the European Economic Area, appeal it in the Google Business Profile appeals tool. Elsewhere, open Google's contact form, select the most related issue, fill out the form and select Submit.
  3. Name or address changed: Google says a name change after verification might need verifying again, and a move to a new address must be verified again. Complete it; Google may reject content added to a profile that is not verified. An address that is wrong but has not moved is a different case: for venues whose location is part of the experience, Google asks the owner to contact it.
  4. A big change to the name or category: Google may reject it. A minor rename may keep the same profile when the proper nouns, the services named in the name and the category stay the same, and a business with multiple locations may also qualify. Otherwise Google treats the rename as a new business: mark the old profile closed and create a new one.
  5. Hours for a holiday or short closure: do not change the regular hours. Open Edit profile, then Hours, and next to Special hours select Edit. Special hours cover closures of up to 6 days in a row, and show only when the business hours are set to Open with main hours. For a closure of 7 days or more, mark the business Temporarily closed instead.

Stop the old details coming back

Google fills profiles from several sources and may update a profile when those sources disagree with it, so an old detail left elsewhere can come back.

  1. Change the detail on your website first. When someone suggests an edit, Google may notify you and give you 4 days to accept or reject it. If you don't respond, Google may publish it when other public information, such as your business website, supports it.
  2. Answer those suggestion notifications within the 4 days.
  3. Where available, Google may call or text to confirm details such as your hours or services, and can use your answers to update the profile. Review those answers under Edit profile, then Collected info. Deleting an answer there does not change the profile itself; correct the field in Edit profile.

Check it worked

Reopen Edit profile after the review time and confirm the field shows your new value with no Pending or Not approved note and is not shown in blue. Google says accepted info displays on the profile.

Then search the business name and city in Google Maps from a browser that is not signed in to the owner's account, and confirm customers see the new detail.

Why a suspended profile can't take edits

Google says it may reject content added to a suspended or disabled profile, and that the profile must be reinstated before new content can be added. Appeal the suspension first; edit afterwards.

A business that moved

For most businesses Google says to update the existing profile with the new address rather than create a new one. Venues whose location is part of the experience, such as dining, lodging or entertainment, are the exception: Google rejects their location edits and asks them to mark the old profile permanently closed and create a new one.
