See calls, website clicks and direction requests from your Business Profile

Updated October 11, 2026

5 minutes

Open your Business Profile, select Performance and set a date range to see calls, website clicks and direction requests. Calls counts call button taps, not answered calls. The figures include Google Ads actions, and an Ads account using the profile for location assets counts many of the same taps again as Local actions, so never add them together.

Before you start

  • A verified profile. Google shows performance data only for verified Business Profiles.
  • The Google Account linked to the profile. Google says you must be signed in to it to check performance.
  • Google Ads access, if the business advertises with location assets, to compare the Local actions conversions.

Read the profile's own numbers

The Performance page counts what people did on the profile in Search and Maps over the dates you choose.

  1. Go to your Business Profile and click Performance. In the Google Maps app, tap Business, then next to Performance tap See more.
  2. At the top, select a time period and click Apply.
  3. Read Calls as taps: Google defines it as the number of times a customer clicked the call button. That is a tap, not an answered call.
  4. Read Website clicks and Directions. Google counts direction requests after allowing for multiple taps, cancelled requests and spam.
  5. Read Views as people, not visits: Google counts a person once a day. Searches updates at the start of each month and can take up to 5 days to show.

Google says these figures include views, searches and actions from both organic search results and Google Ads, so they are not a count of free visibility alone.

Compare with Google Ads without counting twice

When the profile feeds location assets in Google Ads, Google Ads records many of the same taps as Local actions conversions.

  1. In Google Ads, go to Summary within the Goals menu and select View all conversion actions. Look for the Local actions entries, such as Local actions - Directions (or Get Directions) and Clicks to call.
  2. Know what they count: a call or directions click on your location during or after engaging with an ad, including a click on a later organic result for your business, within a default 30-day window.
  3. So one person who clicks an ad and later taps Directions on the profile shows up in the profile's Directions and again in Google Ads. Report one source for a period, never the sum. That rule is a judgment, not Google's wording.
  4. Check whether the Local actions also count in the Conversions column. Google lists them under All conversions. They reach Conversions when a campaign includes them as a goal: directions in Performance Max, Search and Shopping campaigns, call clicks only in Performance Max. Then a column that reads as leads is partly directions taps, and in Performance Max call taps as well.

Check it worked

With a date range set, Performance should show Calls, Website clicks and Directions for the period. Google shows only metrics that apply to the business, and Calls needs a phone number on the profile.

Set the same dates in Google Ads and compare the Local actions counts with the profile's. Google Ads dates a conversion to the ad interaction by default, which can be up to 30 days before the tap, so expect the totals to differ. Add the All conv. (by conv. time) column for a closer match.

If the conversion column rose after location assets went live and a campaign took Local actions as a goal, the Local actions are the likely cause. That reading is a judgment, not Google's wording.

Knowing which taps became real calls

A tap on the call button can end before anyone answers, and the profile never says who rang. To log the calls themselves, with caller and duration, give the profile its own call tracking number.

Download the figures for several locations

On a computer, go to Business Profile Manager, tick the profiles you want, then at the top right click Actions, then Insights. Select the timeframe and click Download Report. Google says columns may show *** when a profile is not enabled for downloads.
