Add your business name and logo to your Google ads, and get them approved

Updated October 11, 2026

20 minutes, plus review time

To add your business name and logo to Google ads, finish advertiser verification, then open Assets and add a Business name that matches your domain or verified legal name, plus a square Business logo, at the account level. Remove older campaign-level ones, which take priority. Even approved, they may not show on every ad.

Before you start

  • Admin access if the account is not verified yet. Google's access table lists advertiser verification under Admin only.
  • Completed advertiser verification and Search spend in the last 28 days. Google lists both as account requirements for these assets.
  • A square logo in PNG or JPG, at least 128 by 128 pixels (1200 by 1200 recommended), up to 5120 KB, with the important content in the center 80%.
  • A name of 25 characters or fewer: your domain written with spaces, or the legal name your account verified.

Confirm the name Google will accept

Google approves a business name only when it matches your domain or the legal name verified in advertiser verification, so read the verified name before typing anything.

  1. Click Admin, expand Policy and select Account. The verified legal name is shown there. If verification has not started, select Start verification and follow the instructions. After you submit your documents, Google says to allow up to 5 to 7 business days for the status to update.
  2. Use either that legal name or your domain with spaces between the words. Google's example is www.acmesolutions.com shown as "Acme Solutions".
  3. Leave out sales words and places. Google's policy refuses generic or location-based names and promotional language, such as a city plus a service, or "Buy" in front of the brand.
  4. Open the page your ads send people to and make sure the same name and logo are clearly visible on it. Google disapproves a name or logo that is not clearly present on the landing page.

Add the name and logo to your Search campaigns

Add both at the account level, then remove any campaign-level ones, because Google uses a campaign's own name and logo ahead of the account's.

  1. Go to Assets within the Campaigns menu and select + Business name. In Add to choose Account, type the name in the Business name box and select Apply.
  2. Select + Business logo. In Add to choose Account, select Choose files to upload, upload the file, choose the ratio and select Save.
  3. Look in the Assets table for business names or logos added to single campaigns. To let the account ones serve there, tick them, select Remove in the blue bar, then Confirm.

Google recommends one name and one logo per domain across all your campaigns and accounts, and may stop serving them when it sees inconsistencies between accounts.

Check it worked

Review usually takes a day or two: Google gives up to 2 business days for assets uploaded to a Performance Max campaign, and 24 to 48 hours for a re-review after an edit. Meanwhile your ads keep running with the display URL and a placeholder globe icon, and a disapproval does not stop them either.

Go to Assets within the Campaigns menu and select the Business name or Business logo summary card to see each asset's status, clicks and impressions. If the status names a reason, such as a name that does not match or a blurry logo, correct the asset and save.

An approved name and logo can still be missing from some or all of your ads. Google says these assets are not guaranteed to serve, even after verification, and that there is no way to change that serving status. Check the impressions on the summary cards every few weeks rather than resubmitting.

How do you use a trading name instead of the legal name?

Through brand verification. It needs an active trademark registration for the name in at least one country, owned by the legal name your account verified or a confirmed parent or subsidiary.

Add the name as an asset first and let it be disapproved as "Business name not relevant." Hover over it, select Fix, then Verify, enter the trademark registration number and country, and select Submit. Google says requests are typically reviewed within 3 days. A trademarked logo takes the same route.

Why is a different logo showing than the one you uploaded?

Google can create a name and logo from your website. A dynamic logo may show instead of yours when Google expects it to perform better; a dynamic name shows only if you uploaded none. To turn them off, go to Assets, select the three-dot menu, then Account level automated assets, then the three-dot menu again and Advanced settings, and turn off the asset.

Where do the name and logo go in Performance Max?

In the campaign. Open it, select Campaign settings at the top right and expand Brand guidelines. Type the name in Business name, select Edit under Logos to upload up to 5 logos, then select Save.
