ReferenceGoogle Ads account suspension
Advertiser verification
Google selects some accounts to verify the business behind them. The tasks, such as questions or documents, carry a deadline in the notification. Until verification is complete, some ads can be restricted, and the account can be paused. Check the account page for each task. Status can take up to five business days to update, so finish early.

What it means
Google is rolling out verification across advertisers in stages, so some accounts are selected earlier. An account can be selected for suspicious ad behavior or content, for advertising in certain industries such as financial services, for brand-related queries that are often misused, or after a change to its payments profile, billing address, business information or legal name, or a merger.
Verification confirms who stands behind the account. Verified information can show in ad disclosures and the Ads Transparency Center, so the name and documents need to be the real ones.
What actually triggers it
A change to billing or business details
Google lists changes to the payments profile, billing address, business information and legal name as reasons for re-verification. A change made in billing can start a new task.
A brand term or a sensitive industry
Brand-related queries and ads in certain industries, such as financial services, are listed as reasons an account is selected.
An appeal on a suspended account
A suspended account stays suspended until its appeal is granted, and some advertisers must finish verification before they can appeal.
Fix it in this order
- Open the account page and find the verification task and its deadline.
- Gather the documents the task asks for, using the legal business name and documents as they are registered.
- Complete every task before the deadline in the notification. Missing the deadline is what can restrict ads or pause the account.
- Check the status on the account page. Updates can take up to five business days, so allow for that before assuming a problem.
- Watch for the confirmation email, which arrives once all tasks are complete.
Verified information can show in ad disclosures and the Ads Transparency Center, so check that the name shown there is the one the business wants public.
When to appeal
If the account is suspended, verification may be needed before an appeal. Some advertisers who fail verification three times cannot appeal at all, so finish the first attempt carefully.
Often confused with
A verification task is a step to finish by a deadline. A suspension stops every ad and stays until an appeal is granted. A missed verification deadline can lead to a pause, which is why the date matters.
Couldn't verify your identity or business operations
The task was submitted and failed. That page covers the mismatches that fail it and the limited attempts left.
Limited ad serving restricts impressions while Google reviews the advertiser's standing. Verification is one of the fixes listed for it, so a limit and a verification task can arrive together.
