ReferenceGoogle Ads disapproval

Insufficient original content

Google disapproves an ad whose destination offers little unique value, such as a parked domain, a coming-soon page, a blank page, copied text or a page that only redirects. Load the final URL in a browser first. Add real content or change the final URL to a working page. Renew an expired domain if that is the cause, then edit the ad.

At a glance

Where it shows
The Status column in the Ads section, as Disapproved, with Insufficient original content in Policy details.
What stops
The ad stops serving while the destination is judged thin.
How serious
A warning first. Google warns at least 7 days before any account suspension.
How long
Google says re-review usually takes 24 to 48 hours after an edit.

What it means

The policy is about the destination, not the ad copy. Google disapproves a destination that offers little unique value: pages built mainly to show ads, copied or framed content, pages that only send people elsewhere, or empty pages.

The check is what a visitor finds when they arrive. A page that loads but holds nothing useful fails the same way as one that is missing.

What actually triggers it

  1. A parked domain or a coming-soon page

Google lists parked domains, coming-soon pages and pages with no content as violations. The ad was pointed at an address that held a placeholder when the review ran.

  2. A domain registration that has expired

Google's fix list includes renewing an expired domain registration. A lapsed domain can show a parked page to the reviewer.

  3. A bridge or doorway page that only redirects

Google disapproves intermediate pages that only redirect the visitor elsewhere. The ad reaches the page and the visitor is moved on without any content of their own.

  4. Copied, framed or mirrored content

Google lists mirrored or framed pages, scraped text and duplicate templates. A page framed from another domain, or copied text, reads as content the site does not own.

Fix it in this order

  1. Open the final URL in a browser the way a visitor would, and look at what loads.
  2. If it shows a blank, parked or coming-soon page, add the real page, or change the ad's final URL to a page that works.
  3. If the domain's registration has expired, renew it, then reload the page.
  4. If the page is mostly ads or copied text, reduce the ads, add original content, and remove any frame that shows another domain's content.
  5. Edit the ad in Campaigns, then Ads, and save. Re-review usually takes 24 to 48 hours.

When to appeal

Appeal from your Google Ads account only once the destination is fixed, or when you believe the decision was an error. Google's appeal path is for those two cases.

If the page cannot be fixed, change the ad's final URL to a page that works, or remove the ad.

Often confused with

  • Unacceptable URL

The address is malformed or uses an IP address. This policy is about what the address shows once it loads.

  • Destination not working

The page returns an error to Google's reviewer. A page that loads but holds little is this policy, not an error page.
